Dust to Dust - make black lung history

Black Lung is back.
Lives are at risk.

Black Lung disease has returned to Queensland coalmines.

The re-emergence of Black Lung disease has uncovered a failed system for controlling dust levels in Queensland coal mines.

Lack of independent monitoring of dust levels in coalmines and companies being able to self-report has led to dust levels being well above legal limits in many Queensland mines.

With 10 cases of the disease currently confirmed, and 150,000 worker medical records still to be checked, this could just be the tip of the iceberg.

It is unacceptable that there are coalmine workers who are still going to work every day not knowing if they already have Black Lung, or if their mine is keeping dust levels below the legal limits.

We need to do more to eradicate this disease, and the community needs action now.

Send an email to your Member of Parliament today and urge them to stand up for coalmine workers and do more to stop Black Lung disease from getting worse in Queensland mines.
